Ever since the invention of the Television, there have been people who say that watching too much T.V. is bad for you. That watching fancy, flashing pictures on a screen is a waste of time. Now, when these people are asked for an alternative, they usually say something along the lines of 'read a book'. In this day and age it is a universally accepted statement that reading a book is a better use of time than watching television. But my question is 'is it really?'
What makes people say that watching too much television is bad for you? What do you get from reading a book in contrast to watching T.V.? Are all books really so insightful and entertaining that any book is a better substitute for T.V?
Well, before I got throw out my television set and exchange it for a grand library, I want to know the facts. The hard facts, not just what granny told me.
